Construction Safety Manager, DCPD Health and Safety (AWS)

Construction Safety Manager, DCPD Health and Safety Responsible for ensuring safety compliance and continuous improvement across AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) programs, collaborating with real estate, permitting, construction, and procurement teams, as well as external contractors to meet jurisdictional and AWS Safety Management Program (SMP) standards. Responsibilities Influence program development, framework, and strategy while deploying ISO 45001-aligned safety programs in the field. Implement health and safety programs across leadership, planning, support, operational controls, continuous improvement, and performance management. Ensure construction activities meet jurisdictional requirements and AWS SMP standards through systematic compliance and assurance activities. Review due diligence risk assessments with real estate, pre‐construction, and construction operations on H&S aspects of the AWS H&S management program. Coordinate with DCPD managers to prioritize H&S in planning and execution in all phases of DCPD projects. Ensure and monitor General Contractors and AWS deployment vendors' compliance to onboarding requirements in Avetta. Conduct campus H&S kickoff sessions and review General Contractor and AWS deployment vendor's Construction Safety Management Plans. Document data and anecdotes in standard reporting tools (Weekly Business Reviews, Monthly Project Reviews) for DCPD and H&S leadership teams. Manage 3rd‐party/internal H&S resources on DCPD projects, providing weekly business reviews and monthly project reviews. Identify improvement opportunities at projects and partner with Data Center Health and Safety (DCHS) Operational Team on regional issues affecting construction/operations handover phases. Audit projects to determine if processes are followed, analyze data for trends, risks, and opportunities, and report at project/regional levels and within governance programs. Conduct regular site visits with H&S Consultants, construction managers, and Data Center Health and Safety Operational teams. Host project and regional‐specific contractor and internal team H&S kickoff sessions and annual performance review sessions. Serve as an escalation path for issue resolution and manage site‐based H&S team members and/or consultants. Use data and anecdotes to drive internal customers to manage H&S risks, providing clear, concise, and consistent communication. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 6+ years of compliance, audit, or risk management experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications. Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements. ASP, CSP, or CHST certification.
