Duties vary depending upon assignment. </span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">This recruitment is open and continuous, and the list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future part-time, limited term vacancies for up to one year, as vacancies arise.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br><br>Maintenance Laborers assigned to <strong>Parks Maintenance</strong> will assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the City's parks so that they are well kept for the enjoyment of our residents.<br><br>Maintenance Laborers assigned to the <strong>Community Cleanup</strong> crew will assist in litter/trash pick-up, graffiti abatement and public outreach.<br><br><strong>The Public Works Department</strong><br></span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Public Works strives to develop and provide a variety of customer driven maintenance services and programs to protect the City’s investment of infrastructure and public facilities and ensure the health and safety of Concord’s community in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Public Works provides services in the following five divisions: Infrastructure, Parks Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Administration and Fleet, and Transportation and Signals.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br><br><strong>What you will be doing:</strong><br></span><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);">Under direct supervision and independently, the Maintenance Laborer will perform litter/trash pick-up, restroom clean-up, general maintenance, leaf/debris pick-up, graffiti abatement, and public outreach, depending upon assignment.<br><br>Part Time/Seasonal Maintenance Laborers are hired by the City’s Public Works Department throughout the year, and on an as-needed basis. These are part-time/temporary positions, limited to 960 hours per fiscal year and provide no benefits.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br><br></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);"><strong><u>SELECTION PROCESS</u></strong></span></div><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);">1. Submit a completed City of Concord and the required supplemental question responses online at www.cityofconcord.org. Only application materials submitted online during the filing period will be accepted.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);">2. All qualified applications and supplemental responses will be competitively evaluated, and passing candidates  will be referred to the Public Works Department for review.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);">3. Those candidates demonstrating the strongest qualifications will be invited to interview.</span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1);">4. Successful candidates will be provided a conditional offer letter, and must clear the DOJ live scan, medical evaluation, drug screen, driving history and other related components.</span><br><br><p style="margin: 0in 0in 15px; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true"><span style=" color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;">Conviction History: </strong></span><br><span style=" color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances.
