Job Summary
As a Nurse Extern you will deliver high quality, patient‑centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. You will work under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN).Responsibilities
- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with your Nurse Extern's skills/training and the needs of the department.
- Consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well‑organized, and safe patient care environment.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, intake and output, and calorie counts.
- Participate as an active member of the health care team and positively promote the team to patients, families, caregivers, and other colleagues.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing school.
- Foundations/Fundamentals course completed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Ability to perform higher‑level procedures once competency is achieved.
