Remote Independent Pharmacist Prescriber

About The GP Service

The GP Service is a UK online healthcare platform connecting patients with independent UK-registered prescribing clinicians for remote consultations and ongoing care.

We are expanding our clinician network and are particularly looking for Independent Pharmacist Prescribers who can provide regular morning cover, especially 8am–2pm, and reliable Saturday and/or Sunday availability.

The opportunity

You will provide remote telephone and/or video consultations to UK patients through The GP Service platform.

The role may also include clinically appropriate:

  • patient follow-ups and reviews
  • repeat medication reviews
  • Form Consultations
  • home-delivery related clinical work
  • other ongoing patient-care activity during agreed sessions

Clinicians provide services as independent healthcare professionals through The GP Service platform.

You must maintain your own:

  • current GPhC registration
  • Independent Prescriber annotation
  • professional indemnity covering private remote / telemedicine prescribing
  • appropriate DBS and mandatory training requirements

All clinical assessment, prescribing and escalation decisions remain the responsibility of the treating clinician and must be made independently, within your own competence and professional scope.

There are no prescribing quotas or requirements to issue medication.

The GP Service provides the patient-facing platform, appointment infrastructure, payment journey and operational support.

Availability

Our immediate priority is clinicians who can provide:

  • regular weekday morning cover, particularly 8am–2pm
  • Saturday and/or Sunday cover
  • additional weekday availability between 8am–5pm where possible

We are looking for clinicians who can commit reliably to agreed rota sessions rather than purely ad-hoc availability.

Remuneration

Approved weekday rota sessions currently operate with a £24 per hour minimum earning level, with the opportunity to earn more where eligible clinical activity exceeds the minimum.

Weekend arrangements are agreed separately.

Essential requirements

  • Current GPhC registration
  • Independent Prescriber annotation
  • Appropriate professional indemnity covering private remote prescribing
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Appropriate DBS status
  • Relevant safeguarding, Information Governance / GDPR and BLS training
  • Strong patient communication skills
  • Confidence making autonomous clinical decisions
  • Ability to work reliably within agreed rota sessions

Previous primary-care, community-pharmacy, urgent-care or telemedicine experience is desirable.

If you are interested in regular remote clinical work and can provide morning and/or weekend availability, we would be very interested to hear from you.
