Staff Design Program Manger, Seller Experience

About the position

Etsy is seeking a Staff Design Program Manager to establish the operational foundation for Etsy’s Seller Experience. This role involves overseeing three key groups: Seller and Inventory, Customer Operations, and Marketplace Services. The ideal candidate will ensure coherence across these areas while focusing on high-priority initiatives. Responsibilities include modernizing seller workflows, structuring inventory, leveraging AI for growth insights, and reducing friction in support, checkout, payments, and fulfillment. At this senior level, the role requires defining objectives, identifying operational gaps, building business cases for solutions, and owning their implementation. The Staff DPM will act as a strategic partner to design leaders and a key liaison in cross-functional discussions with Product, Engineering, and Research.

  • Define and own high-stakes programs that span multiple squads within Seller Experience, including cross-team planning and initiatives requiring sustained alignment across Design, Product, and Engineering.
  • Bring operational structure to ambiguous spaces where problems and solutions are still developing.
  • Set priorities and roadmaps by working across Seller and Inventory, Cust Ops, and Marketplace Services to align design leaders on shared priorities, surface tradeoffs, and manage group capacity.
  • Build and improve the operating model for the Seller Experience design organization, introducing scalable frameworks to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Optimize team rhythms by designing and maintaining planning cadences, review rituals, and communication structures.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards and reporting to provide design leaders with clear insights into team health, capacity, and progress.
  • Act as the primary operational link between Seller Experience design and cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Research, and Brand, ensuring synchronization with product release cycles and visibility of dependencies.
  • Lead the organization through change by building adoption through clear communication and empathy.
  • Develop audience-appropriate communications, including dashboards, leadership summaries, and cross-functional updates, to make the Seller Experience design org’s work visible and credible.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in program management, design operations, or a related field within a product development environment.
  • A track record of owning cross-functional programs end-to-end across multiple teams, including defining objectives and building operational frameworks from scratch.
  • Experience spanning multiple design teams or sub-groups simultaneously, with the ability to hold coherence across different priorities and working styles.
  • Deep familiarity with how design teams plan and ship work, including how design intersects with Product, Engineering, and Research across the product development lifecycle.
  • Strong data instincts: ability to identify what to measure, build systems to track it, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication skills - adapting depth and format to the audience, writing with clarity for various updates and summaries.
  • Experience on large teams (20+ person design orgs) at technology companies is preferred.
